Gram Samruddhi project at Village Kadus was a grass root development program undertaken jointly by Rotary club of Nigdi Charitable trust and Enpro Industries P Ltd under the CSR Grant of The Rotary Foundation. The implementation agency was Karve Institute of Social service. The project aimed at all round development of fifteen adivasi Bastis around Kadus village. A detailed need analysis was carried out by Karve Institute basis which a development plan for a period of one year with a plan outlay of about seventy nine lakhs was prepared. Out of this about ten lakhs were contributed by District3131 under DDF and balance was contributed by Enpro Industries as a CSR Grant. Following activities were carried out under the project 1. Formation of 10 women self help groups 2. Health check up camp for women 3. Provision of kitchen garden know how and seeds to women and school children. 4.provision of E learning sets to schools. 5. Provision of 2 VA solar steel for school. 6. Provision of drinking water facility in schools 7. Provision of sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators 8. Provision of activity based learning kits in schools. 9. Donation of cycles to school girls. 10. Beautification of school walls. 11. Provision of solar street lamps 12. Donation of musical instruments and uniforms to a local dhol Tasha group. 13. Deepening and cleaning of well to provide perennial drinking water. 14. Donation of 90 sheep to 30 families 15.Plantation of thousand trees and Provision of tree guards for the same 16. Organizing a caste certificate camp for the adivasis in the region. All these interventions led to a tangible improvement in the life of about 1500 people from the lower most strata of the society and provided the Rotarians a valuable first hand experience of undertaking grassroots level rural development programs. Rotary club of Nigdi will continue to partner with Enpro Industries to work on the Gramsamruddhi project in the coming years to bring about wholistic development of this backward region underthe CSR Grant program of The Rotary Foundation.
