This morning, at Durga tekdi hilltop, we performed the bhoomipujan of the ambitious and unique Arboretum project. (Botanical garden of large trees) The chief guest was Mr Subhash Ingale, Dy commissioner and PCMC Garden dept head Mr Dhananjay Shedbale of Devrai Foundation gave a brief overview of this project We will be planting saplings of 400 rare and endangered species of the Western ghats in 5 acres for their conservation and study. Over the next few months we will prepare the site with pits, drip, pathways etc with plantation to be done in monsoon. My sincere thanks to today's attendees President Pranita Alurkar PP Srikrishna Karkare and his brother Subhash ji, PP Arvind and Geeta Khandkar PP Pravin Ghanegaonkar Birthday girl and Env chairman Smita Ilawe, Dr Ravindra Kadam, Jayant Yewale and Gautam Doshi Many members from local NGOs also attended. We began the planning and permissions for this last year and received immense support from IPP Jagmohan Singh, Ankaji Patil, Shashank Phadke and Rakesh ji (CSR). Sanjyot Bhalerao is actively contributing to the landscape design of this project. There's a lot of work and much to look forward to, to execute this project but I'm sure RC Nigdi can do this and create a lasting legacy for the community
