Parsul is a village located in western parts of Rajgurunagar Taluka, District Pune. It has a population of around 500 people. The village faced a problem of drinking water throughout the year and were mainly dependent on water tankers and bore-wells which went dry in summer. RC Nigdi was contacted by the villagers and urged to solve their water problem. After visiting the village, we found a well about 1.5 km away from the village which had ample water throughout the year. We did a proper geographical survey of the well and decided to lift water from this well up to the village. An overheard RCC water Tank of capacity 25000 Litres (Height of 12 meters) was built on a high altitude in the village. 5HP pump was installed over the well, pipeline from well to overhead water tank was laid. The villagers told the problem of electricity here so we installed a solar panel for working of the pump. The tank is filled daily by this solar energy operated 5HP pump. We also laid a distribution pipeline throughout the village along the houses of the villagers. The water from the tank runs through the pipeline by gravitational force due to the height of tank and altitude on which it is located. The villagers have formed a cooperative society to collect water charges from every household. This funds will be utilised for the maintenance of the project. Also the people migrated to Mumbai came back to village due to COVID-19 and got benefited from the same.
