The birth date, of the second President of India, academic philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers day. It is considered a "celebration" day, where the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance. At some schools on this day, the responsibility of teaching is taken up by the senior students to show appreciation for their teachers. President Ravi Rajapurkar of Rotary Club of Nigdi Pune, felicitated 7 teachers from different institutions on the occasion of Teacher’s day in a joint meeting with IWC Nigdi Pride on September 6, 2013. Mrs. Swahela Shaikh, Mrs. Sunita Mane, and Mr. Satish Gomashe from PCMC schools, Mrs. Poonam Gujar Principal of Punarutthan Samarasta Gurukul; school for children from Nomadic Tribes, Mrs. Sucheta Phase; Principal of school for special children, Mrs. Charu Mathur Founder Trustee and trainer at Socrates Foundation who trains children for Critical Thinking, and Scientist and Ph D Guide Dr Yogesh Shouche were felicitated with a shawl, shreephal, rose plant and citation. The master of ceremony was PP Rtn. Pramod Deshmukh.
